Choosing Your Lavender Plants: Finding What's Right for You

Choosing, growing & caring for lavender

Spring is a time for new beginnings, and what better way to embrace the season than by planting lavender?  Whether you want to use it for culinary delights, beauty products, or simply to enjoy its calming aroma, choosing the right lavender variety is essential.

Lavandula angustifolia, often called English lavender, stays compact at 2 - 3 feet and is ideal for cooking and crafting. Lavandula x intermedia, a hybrid lavender, grows larger (3-5 feet) and offers a stronger fragrance, perfect for essential oils and making sachets, garden beauty....

Think about where you want to plant it: a container, along a pathway, or in your garden?  Ensure your chosen space has full sun (at least six hours daily), good drainage, and a soil pH of about 7.2.  Just like plants need the right conditions to thrive, so do we.  This season, take a moment to check in with yourself - are you giving yourself what you need to grow and flourish?
